Janny Genocide - 4chins hacked by soyjak.party

Last night a user on the sharty (nickname for the imageboard soyjak.party used by its users) posted proof of their having access to the 4chan servers and proceeded to leak many different things from 4chan including the emails and handles of the janitors/mods/admins, an archive of their janitor board, and some php source code for the site. 4chan admins have taken the site down for the time being but the damage is done.

Why should anyone here care? The leaked information gives us confirmation of the long standing belief around the internet that moderation positions are often filled with trannies and people who have some interest in stifling or outright censoring discussion. For starters each ban not only had a public reason but a private reason that only other janitors could see which seems to have often included personal reasons for the bans:

It's been alleged the admin other than the Asian guy who owns the site is a tranny, seen here. Can't find the post with all his other online aliases but they included ones with names like "Annabelle" using the same email, allegedly. No photos of the guy trooned out, this is the only one I've seen so far.

And the only other moderators face I've seen posted is.... A big fat Canadian jew!

Nothing of value was lost, it would seem.

From what I read it seems 4chan was running on a FreeBSD server that had not been updated since moot sold the site to the gook, meaning their server had not had any security updates for over a decade. Gentle reminder to keep your publicly facing servers up to date to avoid ancient exploits.

Yeah I'm not sure but it was probably a hunt for the servers IP that was the most difficult part of it all based on the limited security knowledge I have. Once they had that they were probably able to probe it to get the servers OS details and details for services after a port scan which would allow them to find existing vulnerabilities to exploit.

These were emails for the janitors, moderators and admins who all had accounts to access their control panel. The only other feature that required an email on 4chan was the 4chan pass that was added by the gook after he bought the site from moot that allowed users to bypass the captcha and post from VPN.

There were no gov domain emails in the leak, not sure why that has been spread around but I saw that as well. There were two or three edu domain emails in the leak.

Awesome. All 4ch boards have been universal complete garbage since 2017. Site long ruined, trannified, and co-opted. Stopped browsing it that year and the ~annual times I've checked back in reaffirm how every single board is unrecognizable from the 2011-16 golden era.

I tried to sign up there before to read the alleged Boq thread, but it seems like any account with a temporary e-mail gets denied approval. Even if you're not dumb enough to use a work e-mail they practically pressure you to use an e-mail that requires some form of 2FA. Who fucking cares about any of that for a shitposting forum?

On the only forum that really rocks you can sign up with a [email protected] email and start posting.
