Anthony's racism has had its moments of great comedy. There was definitely something funny about him spewing venom about niggers daily on a corporate platform. There was a unique charm to that, especially at the time. But he did it too often, it became samey. All the rants run into each other in your mind, none of them particularly that funny.

The DMAN seems to remember the race rants dying down a tad at the end, even casual Nigger word use wasn't as heavy, and Anthony alluded to it a few times that he was behaving in 2014. Someone clearly had a chat with him off-air, and he was abiding. He was kinda reluctant to say Nigger during the 'misheard lyrics' break... Anthony reluctant to say Nigger....

Opie played Candy Crush and did Soduko puzzles live on air (because that's highly entertaining for the listener, right? Great bit)

Yes, dumb asshole. Opie playing Candy Crush was a great bit.

Anthony's ranting was aimless and never had a payoff or end game. Opie created the payoff to that bit. After Anthony had been doing this completely unchecked and devoid of humor for SIX YEARS, it became a known thing. Opie flipped the bit on Anthony, by letting the sound of Candy Crush blare into the microphone to make his point. It was fucking funny. Know why? Because even Anthony was smart enough to GO WITH THE BIT and he began to rant louder and more aggressively, knowing that his mic had been lowered to let the Candy Crush sound effects drown him out. Even Anthony understood "Okay, I sound insane right now, and Opie is going for a bit. Let's do it" it was a rare moment where O&A showed chemistry on the level of Ron & Fez. It was one of those moments of insanity like when they would let Lady Di babble without interruption. It was like The Silent Game. It was quite literally an example of Opie taking shit and turning it into shinola. He took a KNOWN PROBLEM with the show, a KNOWN FAILED BIT -- and easily turned it into something self-referential and amusing, with Anthony's cooperation.

But then Anthony and his new boyfriends Karl WATP tried to manipulate the hate by lying that Opie was literally playing Candy Crush and ignoring the show, like somehow he was being just as lazy as Anthony or Jim "I'm Listening" Norton. Like he was unironically playing Candy Crush for real. Dumb assholes. You cocksuckers should be forced to pass a mental wellness test to be allowed to host podcasts or be on this site. The DMAN would pulverize the test and you would fail it, soundly.

Them playing stuff from Panzerfaust Records or My Baby is Black and just hurling 'nigger' out like it was nothing. Or playing "Slave Master" or whatever that game was with Francine will always be funny. Or 'Misheard Lyrics' where ACDC starting tossing out n-bombs in all of their songs. It was hilarious knowing that management was always listening.
But he did it too often, it became samey. All the rants run into each other in your mind, none of them particularly that funny.
You can say this about every single porn related bit, shock jock sex related bits like "lesbian couch" or whatever, and almost any WWE or UFC interview. Outside of crazy stuff like everyone piling on Vos and JBL. Or "The Gay Off Contest" going into such insane territory. There are entire areas of O&A that are basically unlistenable garbage in hindsight (and were probably terrible at the time).
Yes, dumb asshole. Opie playing Candy Crush was a great bit.
It was also one of those things that Norton always failed with like "almond shake Wednesdays" that never made anyone laugh. A few times Anthony started doing race rants and you just heard Candy Crush's startup sound blare through the microphones it would make the entire studio laugh. Even Anthony would laugh because he knew that the bit was strong.
But then Anthony and his new boyfriends Karl WATP tried to manipulate the hate by lying that Opie was literally playing Candy Crush and ignoring the show, like somehow he was being just as lazy as Anthony or Jim "I'm Listening" Norton. Anthony and his loser fans have a full revisionist version of O&A. Where Opie was some desperate rock jock and Anthony was this happening killer music artist who controlled the entire show and made O&A and was responsible for all of their success. They never offer any reason why since Opie abandoned Anthony and Norton they have zero success on their own though. Tee hee.

I remember nana and Jimmy using "I'm going to unfollow you" as a completely unironic, serious threat on people, including comic friends in Jimmy's case. Fucking embarrassments. Norton's even worse with social media now too - trying to become a full blown social media star with his "wife".
Colin mocking Worm for unfollowing him is one of my favorite clips.

OBAMA PREZDENT NA-NA
I was doing a job in North Carolina when he won and there were black people dancing in the streets. I specifically remember this one group of negresses (negressi??) because a) they weren't obese and b) they kept singing WE PRESIDENT NOW for like an hour straight while their tits bounced out of their shirts.

That's not the point. Sue said there was zero self awareness... ever... And then said "despite the self awareness..."

Let's at least make sense of the arguments, fair?
It was just a throwaway comment but alright, Ben Shapiro. Facts and logic it is.

There's a difference between acknowledging something and actual self-awareness. Lady Di admitted she had a drinking problem many times, would you call her 'self-aware'? Being forced to admit that you're not oblivious to a glaring personal flaw when it's causing an issue (especially if it's just due to social pressure) is not the same as understanding what's causing that personal flaw and taking steps to address it, so it doesn't flare up in the future to make another scene. It's recognizing symptoms but not the disease, ameliorating consequences rather than recognizing their root causes.

It's not self-aware to say you're sorry about something you did while refusing to allow that admission to inform your future behavior. Anthony wasn't displaying any real introspection in your example, he was just being self-conscious in that moment. He was trying to ameliorate an uncomfortable situation he'd created with an implicit apology that clearly wasn't sincere.

But those aren't even the depths of his lack of self-recognition: Don't forget the subject of his ranting is complaining about the crimes and immorality of others, while being Anthony Cumia. A man who's personal life you could play Nigger and Hillbilly Bingo with and win both games. His ranting wasn't just excessive and compulsive, it's downright absurd when you consider who's doing it. He's the last person who should be in the pulpit delivering this particular sermon, and he should've known that fact better than anyone.

So yeah, Sue is absolutely correct on this one. Anthony Cumia has zero self-awareness. Not just because of what he did when the show was on, but also due to the fact that he still refused to deal with his racism, profligacy and unlawfulness after they cost him (or threatened to) a dream life. Instead, he doubled down. I think that's a little more telling of his state of mind than a halfhearted self-admonition a decade ago.

You can get away with a lot if you're funny. People can be racist, but if you're self-effacing and can laugh at yourself, most people will give you a pass. Anthony stopped being able to do that. He's following exactly Colin Flaherty's path almost to a T. Going to die alone just like him.

Also "HAHA, THIS BLACK KID DIED!" tweets aren't comedy, and that's most of what he does now. Dumb fucking Italian.

The speeding always annoyed me about him, even back when I was a fan.

He just didn't think the rules applied to him.
If there is anything Anthony loves more than hating blacks it's speeding. Here is a few clips of his driving stories and run ins with the law, and these are just the ones he told. Imagine all the ones he was too ashamed to talk about on air.

Gay Off contest ruled because of how bad it went, Anthony blurting out WHAT DA FUCK HAPPENED? like an hour in an because he was just so baffled by it was great. Didn't Opie say he felt that was the point where he realized the show wouldn't last much longer?

"A few times, Anthony and I just kinda made eye contact and we could FEEL the other one thinking... What the FAWK are we DOING????"

This is exactly why O & A started to lose me. At one time, I thought his black people thing was just for humor but it became more and more evident that this is who he was. It wasn't funny. No one was reeling him in and it destroyed the show.
People always ignore this fact. Opie did nothing to stop it. He let it go on and ruin the show for 3 straight years
