When I started waiting tables I had 0 racist inclinations in my body. I thought the older waiters were being dicks/exaggerating. I quickly had some terrible experiences. Some bad ones:
Towards the beginning of doing that job I had a seemingly normal, non ghetto lady come in with her daughter. After I dropped their change the mom was laughing. I didn't know what was up and assumed nothing to do with me. After they left looking at the check book and realized I had kept what was supposed to be the change and gave her back her bill total. And this gross cunt thought it was hilarious to steal money from a kid waiting tables.
They give you endless refills on fries if you order something that comes with them, so it was normal to have a couple bitches come in with a pile of stupid kids, order two burgers an ask for 100 fry fills. Also Freckled Lemonades had free refills, so they'd order two of those and dump them down their kids heads over and over. Tipped shitty every time and were total bitches.
Had a really ghetto family come in at the end of the night, I was the only waiter left and they were the only table. Hung out forever, ran me around, complained about their food demanded I sing happy birthday, I think left me less than a dollar.
The second Red Robin I worked at had almost none of those hardcore ghetto shitheads come there but I was tired of working there and provided complete chaos to the restaurant/managers/everyone around so was making less from mostly normal because I didn't give a shit anymore, was stoned and wasted all the time. I threw silverware away instead of rolling it up, I stole food supplies including whole packages of burgers and sliders/etc. I figured out how to open and tilt the top of a liquor bottle in the storage cage to dump into cups. Highlighted with pen the alien outline on the back of every dollar bill I put in the machine with little messages on it at the top. Threw out the main managers line check book when it was laying around and that completely fucked their whole system of keeping track of everything. As bad as customers could be, managers could make it worse. I was a great employee(up until then) and always showed up, never had a customer complaint, and never fucked up food orders. I should have been held up as a god there and they treated me like shit so I figured I'd fuck shit up til I left.
A few months after I was done working there, I had a morning where I ate a mystery pill and went to the nearby casino to drink straight whiskey and ran into a bartender who also loved Brian Jonestown Massacre, so he was pretty much pouring it straight down my head. A former employee called and asked if I could get shrooms so I asked my buddies daughter if she had some and her friend did, so her and I headed to that RR. Apparently on the way I was eating shrooms to that was supposed to go to this chick. I got there and came in the side door and started fucking shit up. It was busy, family's eating there...I walked up to a table and grabbed some dads glass and held it up and announced to the whole restaurant "anybody wanna see something funny?" and threw it at the ground. The one manager that did like me (til then) happened to be working there and told one of my friends that was waiting tables there still to get rid of me. I said "I ain't leaving til I get a coke!" so she made me a to go one and I took a sip and spat it in her face. Can't remember if that was before or after I licked her face Rick James style. Luckily they didn't have cameras there at the time and my buddies non drivers license having friend drove me out of there.
I still called a few days later(after recovering from the alcohol poisoning and puking all over my buddies floor for 12 hours) and talked to that manager to apologize. He wouldn't accept lol. My friend whose face I licked thought it was hilarious but everyone else thought I was a complete asshole, which I thought was nuts. I would have loved nothing more than something interesting to happen at work that I didn't cause but that shit was their lives lol.
Anywho I digress...one time I did get a great tip from some black folks. They probably wouldn't have been the stiffing for no reason/$1 type but I definitely did way better because I made them laugh all night. The main dude asked me something about "can you ask your manager if you can do such and such for a table of black folks?" I said "yeah, let me just go ask my WHITE manager" and they started dying and we were rolling the whole time. They tipped great but that's the only such experience I remember.
