Is being a waiter or waitress really that hard?

I was never a sever - I was a mgr of restaurants but not a server - but I was a bartender and that was a lot of fun and an easy way to make money. I became a bartender because when I managed a bar / grill all my bartenders made much more than me and with a lot less stress / bullshit.
No doubt. No dealing with asshole salespeople who lie constantly and a slew of other things. Servers I knew who got promoted to managers always told me the same thing.

I was a hooters waitress in college. Got my ass pinched and felt-up regularly by Cumia-looking ghouls. The tips were good but the sexual harassment made it difficult at times. Occasionally Id blow some of them in the bathroom for the extra cash if I didnt have enough for rent that month. It was a dark time in my life. So to answer your question yes it's hard

Yeah I was salary so I was doing 50 plus hour weeks and having to deal with customers that can be the worst (usually n persons) and also with staff that even though we’re adults my age and older was like dealing with little kids - having to look for them when to run out on smoke breaks and other shit, not doing side work, not getting along with others etc. - it sucked but I was cool with all the bartenders since they just did their jobs and didn’t bitch because they were making money. Some were making double than me since it was a casino restaurant we had a good flow of drunks.

Oh, since it was an AC casino I also had to deal with Union bullshit - that’s when the older employees would act like entitled brats. I know other industry unions are different (or not) but I hated having to deal with their nonsense and power. We had a shit employee that we couldn’t fire because of the Union and we actually caught him stealing money on camera and somehow he got to come back. They would pull all kinds of shit like we’re supposed to have a union handbook so we can verify claims from staff (“the union handbook says I don’t have to put ice in the machine, etc”) and of course they could never give us one for various bullshit reasons. “Sorry, it’s on back order - can’t help you!”

I ended up really pissing off the Union before I left - this was an AC casino that was open until like 4 so of course weekends would get rowdy thanks to the nightclub at Casino (pool after dark at harrahs, real shit show of drunks) and security would do their best to hide from all the drunks that would start fights at the restaurant at late night so I would have to be the one jumping in and breaking up fights. Eventually I figured out to get the hourly nightclub bouncers (who were not Union) to come to keep the place safe after the club let out and I would give them lots of free food which they loved - just stood there being big dudes and getting free food for it. That pissed off all kinds of people all the way up the chain. Fuck unions.

These "people" infiltrated the restaurant industry bc they read a Bourdain book. 95% of them can't cook for shit, especially during a rush. Faggot cucks would roll into the place I work with their knife rolls and act like it was cool to work shitty hours for no pay.
This 1000%
