Joe is not eligible for Social Security nor Medicare. He simply did not pay enough into the system. Minimum payment is 40 credits. You get about 4 credits a year, so Joe never worked a real job for 10 years. All those years of "cheating the man" by taking cash payments and not paying taxes is all fun and games until you hit 65. Now he has nothing. I'm the same age. I get $3,500 a month, plus Medicare, plus pension, plus medical for life. So Joe is now staring into the void and that void looks like a guitar case full of quarters until the day he dies.

This is my only circle of the Internet where there are posters not only over 30, but a lot of them probably retirement age as well.

I should have watched skibidi toilet instead of this radio show for geriatrics.

This isn’t directed to you personally, but how the fuck is this system sustainable?

I’m speaking metaphorically because the answer is it isn’t and it won’t be around much longer, but it’s crazy how old people have fucked the young in every possible way.

“I paid into it all my life so I deserve it” is a fair statement but not really since on average you get your money back plus 10% after 6 years and it lasts indefinitely and is funded by kids paying into it, when they won’t get anything.

I really can’t stop sperging on this, old people got cheap or free education, an easy job market, cheap houses that 50x in value doing nothing, they get incredibly generous pensions which nobody else will, and then we still have to give them old people discounts and make sure their social security is funded but only just for them.

I know life isn’t fair, and I don’t care I’ll just deal with it and I would have done the same as most boomers, but they have to still act like they are the victims. Why are they never just honest?

“Yeah we had it easy and I took advantage, like anybody would have” or in Joe’s case “I could have been set for life with no effort but I still couldn’t do it because I’m lazy”
Do you have an equivalent to the triple lock system we have in the UK, where they get a raise equal to either inflation, average wage or 2.5%, whichever is highest? Whoever pledges to abolish it will get my vote in the next election.

It goes up based on an inflation measurement for a specific quarter of the year. There is no automatic 2.5% if inflation is below that. If it is only .5%, then that is all there is. If it is negative, it doesn't ever go down though.

Boomers are getting $3500 a month from SS??? No wonder that shits going to be insolvent and future generations won't get any. I thought it was a couple hundred bucks to make sure grandma isn't eating dog food
That's on the high end the maximum is like 3800. The average is like 2000. It's skewed towards the lower end so most people even with low incomes get 1500-2000 and if you recently retired your indexed incomes have to be averaged close to the 168k dollar amount in 2024 dolars for 35 years to get the 3800. You have to have maxxed out most years. to be near 3500. To get 3k you probably maxxed out 25 plus years. Which also makes it highly likely you have a pension and other retirement income and your SS gets taxed.

Lastly it isn't ever going insolvent, they'll just start taxing on incomes up to say 700k, then 2 mil then 10mil and finally on investments and cap gains. There's no reason they can't make exceptions to tax cap gains with special FICA rates of say 10% for non-employment, or other investment incomes the same way, or create income tax exempted retirement accounts with special taxes for SS only and disbursement taxes paid to the SSA. There playbook is unlimited and the printing presses are always on. The external debt of the US is probably somewhere around 50% of most of these socialist European paradises that are still funding all kinds of shit, I'm sure we can a 80 million mid sized pension checks of some watered down currency in our dystopian future for at least the next 75 years before we're all brown people.

Dude relax the program is going to survive through your old age. Same with houses, The real fucking you got isn't from boomers, it is from the generation that followed them the dot com assholes that were letting faggots bring dogs to work and gave out shares and shit then turned into sharks. Jeff Bezos and his bookstore in a garage that wrecked the entire retail industry. Vacant shopping malls, the phones and social media that turned kids into trannies and zombies, the kikes and the single giant media conglomerate that pretends to be competitive. You used to blame me, it isn't me brother, there I was the other night stuck in Michigan fixing my own electric at 2 in the morning going back home a day late for a surgery I had today in Canada (with my shitty health care) because fucking electricians are so fucking lazy they don't call you back for a week.

They don't even want your money, that's your 35 year old entitled guy. Turning down probably 300-400 bucks, he'll call back Monday or Tuesday, but it's fixed. Every generation sucks. The world is broken. The state is left to try and figure out how to keep paying back the people whos money they took to pay a pension they promised but instead paid bums and immigrants SSI with, but like I said theires trillions to tax from jews and others elites so we have time until we're dead. Well I do at least lol. Maybe not you. I can tell you this much my surgeon was white which was a relief, so all hope isn't lost yet.
