Id assume just get the converter. The only difference is the 4 prong has 2 hot wires and 1 neutral and 1 ground. The 3 prong has 2 hots and 1 nuetral+ground wrapped together. The 4 prong is safer for your machine so i dunno why the converter would be an issue.

exactly, it's not 3-phase - that pin is redundant (like OP's DIY skills)

Ended up just switching out the 4 prong for a 3.
Didn’t get electrocuted, the dryers working just fine, and it didn’t even trip the breaker, so I guess all is well until the house burns down.
