I just got a 4 prong dryer, but my old ass house has an old 3 prong outlit, Should I buy a converter online, or just change the plug on the dryer to a 3 prong?

I rent, so I’m not changing out the outlet.

Seems like it would be way easier just to buy the converter. Not sure why you would want to swap out the plug. Unless there is something I'm missing about voltage conversion.

Source: I use the plug converters when I'm traveling and it literally is just to fit the outlet. It doesn't do anything to the voltage.

Id assume just get the converter. The only difference is the 4 prong has 2 hot wires and 1 neutral and 1 ground. The 3 prong has 2 hots and 1 nuetral+ground wrapped together. The 4 prong is safer for your machine so i dunno why the converter would be an issue.

Ive done that on so many jobsites lol. Hammer drill wont fit the socket? Fuck it, just snap the ground off. Luckily pretty much is everything battery powered nowadays so we dont have to worry about that
