If you were gonna have issues it wouldve been when you turned the dryer back on with the new plug. Itll be fine. Again, the biggest risk involving the 3 or 4 pronged plugs is the safety of your machine usually. If it was gonna blow, it wouldve when you plugged it back in. Pretty safe in saying itll be all good from here out.

More efficient to run on the 4 prongs cause you'll have some features like the timers and all that running on 120v which require one neutral wire and the heating elements and motor running on 240v.

Im sure its easy enough to find out-of-country, like russia/japan but i just assume you wanted domestic in the US. (Its always the smartest way to go unless you dont mind waiting a few weeks). Did you even check the amps of the breaker / outlet and what the dryer is running on? Not sure how far your panel is from the dryer outlet itself, but you'd definitely be spending a few hundred bucks and a lot of frustration at least to make it a correct 4 wire outlet. You may or may not die in a fire or your clothes might take twice as long as usual to dry, not sure. Having said that - I'm more familiar with commercial electrical DIY work where everything for the most part is 3 phase and higher voltage for vfd speed control / programming and lower amperage requirements.
