I saw this posted recently on social media and it sounded like something Hildy would post as a “gotcha” yet the two things aren’t related. I know plenty of people that have had serious medical issues pray AND get treatment - but I’m sure dopes like Hildy think in 2024 Christian’s ignore medicine / medical treatments and believe they can just “pray” it away. My one uncle is super religious and had his first heart attack recently in his 80s and he of course did whatever his doctors recommended for treatment, not “no thanks medical professionals - I’ll just pray myself better!”

AFAIK the only group (if they’re even still around) that ignore medical treatments are the Christian scientist groups but I assumed they all died out. Fun fact - James Hetfield of Metallica mother was that type of person and died from cancer because they refused medical treatments when he was young.

It's besides the point, anyways. Whether it's on the actual date or not doesn't make a difference to the observances so it's dumb for fedora tippers to try and hammer that point as some sort of gotcha. The Passion or Easter are pretty firmly dated in the Gospels so it's only natural to follow them, but it honestly wouldn't matter even if they weren't. The holidays are commerative and devotional, they're not voodoo rituals that lose their magic power if the stars haven't aligned properly.
True. I have a cousin who thinks we shouldn't celebrate Christmas because it's not in the Bible. She'll throw a birthday party for her dog but won't celebrate the birth of the saviour. Makes sense.

It's a retarded point because you're way more likely to see Christians wondering if it's a sin to refuse medical treatment, as human life is sacred and you have an obligation to not only safeguard your own but respect it in general. Care for the sick is one of the most defining aspects of Christianity.

Yeah I only know of the “Christian scientist” groups but those are very rare now, I think there was a legal case a while back parents refused medical help for their kid because they beloved god would fix their kid and not medicine and they got charged with child abuse. It’s definitely not the majority of Christian’s that believe prayer fixes everything and ignore medicine but I’m sure Hildy will claim the opposite while dreaming about molesting his sister.

You'd have to be a real retard to believe that God created everything, that all good flows through Him and then refuse to take antibiotics and just pray instead . I believe that miraculous healings do occur and I wouldn't neglect my prayers just because I was going in for surgery but it's not this either/or bullshit that people make it out to be.

Yeah I only know of people like that from the court case I mentioned and that James Hetfield of Metallica came from a Christian Science family that had his Dad refuse treatment for his mom so she wasted away from Cancer and said it was “Gods Will” which messed him up. Pretty sure it was what inspired the song “The God That Failed” from Metallica’s black album.

Christian Science is funny because they're not Christians or scientists. Just another weird Gnostic cult.

At least Gnosticism is interesting, Christian Science just sounds like it follows the generic cult formula of New Age ramblings of a mad person turned into a money scam.

"There is no supplication in Christian Science prayer. The process involves the Scientist engaging in a silent argument to affirm to herself the unreality of matter, something Christian Science practitioners will do for a fee, including in absentia, to address ill health or other problems.[57]"

This might be one of the most self-contradictory and unintentionally hilarious sentences I've ever read.

New Age has its roots in Gnosticism. In fact the quoted portion is very Gnostic - they consider flesh and matter to be evil in themselves. Only the spirit matters which is where they run directly contrary to Christianity; we're going to be raised body and spirit on judgement day.

That's one element of Gnosticism, which to be fair isn't a very useful term in its own right. What I really meant is that at least those religions and sects had a developed cosmology and philosophy behind them and the belief is genuine, while Christian Science seems to have the depth of a spoon and has a lot of suspect elements to it. I'd call it the Scientology of the 19th century, but I think Scientology might have a more developed lore.

"Give us hard cold cash to deny the material world to heal your material body" is just pure farce.

Until all theoretical models of physics are either proven and/or disproven these people are making the claim that they know more than scientists, but will tell everyone else to follow the science (i.e, their non-scientific and unproven conclusions).
Every genuine scientist is an Agnostic at best.

"The aim of science is not to open a door to infinite wisdom but to set a limit to infinite error.", - some faggot.

high IQ mensa member says it's a BAD MOVE for a stlaker+murderer that has yet to see what they got on him, or wage his chances at jury nullification and negotiate, to have made an initial plea of not guilty
