So Patrick was so busy in high school memorizing trivial shit about the military that he didn't have to time to "memorize" or study algebra, chemistry, biology, history, or English? Sounds like a great use of time and resources. I guarantee you that the kids that were interested in NBA stats, didn't have to "memorize" shit and they certainly didn't compromise their academic progress to do so---

I used to be obsessed with the NBA and the 2k games to the point I could name the 12th man on any roster (not anymore basketball sucks now). It was effortless because I genuinely loved it and was constantly consuming information through pleasure.
It just speaks to the inauthenticity that is his life. Memorize things on random topics not because of any passion but because you can pretend to be smart later on or use it to dunk on someone

I remember quickly googling a few of the guys from his HS yearbook who looked like they would've bullied him. They were all vastly more successful than him. I'm talking about regular dudes - one had his own haulage outfit, one was a furniture salesman, etc. Productive, well-adjusted family men. None of them had ever appeared as a talking head on the Sci-Fi channel, but none of them owed 50 grand to someone who called them fat online either.

Playing with his pud, sucking at video games, and being a malingering habitual truant. I forgot what years in high school they were, but he missed 5 weeks of school in two separate years. It's even worse considering his mom worked for the fucking school. Did she not have any shame? How the fuck are you a school psychologist and your son graduates high school with a sub 2.0 GPA and he misses 4 weeks of school every year? Embarrassing.

He probably had severe behavioral problems and got special treatment for it. Instead of being expelled and sent to an "alternative" school for kids who can't hack it in regular schools, his enabling mother pulled some strings to allow him to have a school work from home type situation, and even though he still didn't do his school work, was allowed to graduate anyway. The faculty undoubtedly hated him, so they went along with it and just wanted him gone.
