Easily one of the greatest albums of all time. It's actually what got me into music when I was 12 or so.
I honestly unironically love Meat Loaf too. I listen to Bat Out of Hell when I'm drunk a lot. I'll never forget one time when I was little my parents had it playing and my dad's buddy came over and did some perfect melodramatic act out to the entire song Bat Out of Hell just for me while I laughed my ass off.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I may have been molested to the song Bat Out of Hell.

I was going to post what I think of Mr. Loaf’s music but @PogromStallone’s endorsement does more damage than I ever could.
I'm with him. Meat Loaf rulez. I remember one time on The Celebrity Apprentice he flipped the fuck out hard on Garey Busey for no reason and poor crazy ass Gary Busey was confused as hell. He thought Gary Busey hid his paints for some gay craft they were doing and he fuckin LOST IT. It was psychotic and made Garey Busey look like the sane one.

Meat got me into real proper opera, his voice and Jim's composing were the gateway drug. I understand Montse because of Meat, and I think that's a high compliment indeed to the late great Loaf.

As big a fan and a theatre queen as I am, I went to Bat: The Musical live on tour about a month ago, popped half a strip of Voidrealms before I went in, and had a fucking blast. Even in the show's sadly truncated form (Steinman would not approve of the heavy cuts/revisions made post-pandemic) and with its thin slightly puerile plot, it's still a hell of a night out if you already rate the music.

The singers they hire and cast to play the roles are phenomenonal--not on Meat's level ofc, who is, but it's a hard sing on a good day and they do justice to him & Jim's technically-difficult oeuvre.

Jim is someone I look up to as a kind of creative idol, too. I could listen to him talk and tell industry or composer stories all day and night. His four hour+ sit down with Kerrang in the 2000s is a seminal document to me.
