I went to Five Guys because it's junk food and their prices keep the riffraff out but I forgot about the paper straws. You cannot enjoy milkshakes anymore. I spent so much money and I had to drink the milk shake out of the cup like a homeless person. It blows my mind how stupid people are that they think banning plastic straws has accomplished anything. Major tech companies are raping the African continent of their rare earth metals and people are tweeting that we banned plastic straws.

The city I live in is all in with these sorts of eco-initiatives but it immediately morphed into passing costs that used to be built into the pricing off on the consumer under the guise of “going green”. Cup fees, bag fees — basically we’re expected to subsidize the cost of materials and just trust the businesses are using the surplus for environmental causes.

Last night I had a sushi place hit me with a dollar surcharge on my take out order as a “box recycle fee”. I read about restaurant closures with glee, now.

I believe it started with the iPhone 12’s but Apple makes you buy the charger (or at least did) separately and they claimed it was an environmental decision so they could fit more phones on each pallet. On some level you have to respect it.

Nah- fuck this kikery. I'm on my 4th or 5th iphone for work so in theory i should have a shitload of chargers. What actually happens is half the time I use one I get the "accessory not supported" message.

Better to have 1st party accessories not work than to let people buy cheaper 3rd party alternatives, I guess. Fuck Steve Jobs, I'm glad he's dead

Yeah but I didn’t have the LIGHTNING charger and that cost me like $20. Now I only have one that works because it’s thicker. I’m just going to have some third party place fix the charging port. Literally just finished paying it off too.
