Here is his last Periscope. He talks about trolls ordering pizzas to his house and everything. He amassed almost 50 million likes on Periscope and even crowdfunded a pilot for a show with it. He also mentions the trolls again and how they said his pilot failed even though it got him a meeting with Matt and Trey from South Park.

So I'm torn on this guy here.
ot trying to be all Norton, but he WAS good on Late Late Show as Geoff Peterson. I still watch those and they hold up, I would even say when he became the sidekick host, it mate the show better.

But fucking Christ, is this dude weird in real life. He just checks the boxes of being a loon, and it really seemed to happen right after the show ended.

Like how every 80s American sitcom had at least one actress that either got deep into drugs, conspiracy theories, or completely disappeared off the face of the earth.

I think there was resentment about the fact that you didn't see his face on the show and his name was only in the credits, so people would hear "Josh Robert Thompson" and not know it was the funny robot.

Right after the show ended he did a Kickstarter to produce a pilot where he did impressions - they were good but he didn't write great stuff around them so it didn't get picked up and his career stalled. He could have been a very successful voice actor but he was too bitter, I guess. Like he's accurate and this has production value but there's no hook.

yeah, he could do well to have a writer.
I you're writing things yourself or on the fly, it's better to go with a less accurate impression but lean into the funny. That's difficult If you're into voices because you'll be overly self-critical & it'll throw you off.
