I downloaded the first 3 seasons, of 4, will never watch 4 cuz the creator and writer had no involvement. And am about half way through season one, seen it before, but mostly as a stoned teenager. It's such a wonderfully misanthropic show, offending every possible sensibility. In a way it's a strength, because it exceeds South Park in its ability to just really point out your own hypocrisy, but it's also it's weakness because the message is so vague, and just can be generally summed up as unsatisfied with the status quo. Yes, it's a black show, and on the surface its race-bait, but underneath it's really just about hypocrisy, all 3 of our protagonists are horrible people, often incapable of empathy, trying to swallow up a piece of the suburban lifestyle they feel they deserve, just being horrible to each other and the world outside of themselves. It's really fucking funny too. Like REALLY funny. 9 out of 10. Sometimes 5, often 10.

My favorite thing about this scene is the show is animated in South Korea, so they need context notes from the storyboard artist, probably McGruder himself to give them an idea how to tie the keyframes together - so he had to explain how a "nigga" moves when in a confrontation, how throbbing their muscles should be, just what is the nature of a "nigga" to a little Asian man who has probably only seen a black person in the movies.

Oh and then, probably at a wednesday morning meeting, that little Asian man would have to explain to a team of maybe 20 Korean recent graduates how to draw the "nigga" and do it very formally and professionally.

I imagine it something like:
"The nigga is not stiff, like when we draw a young man, he must move fluidly with firm finishes to his movements, like a bear, or a tiger. He must look graceful but he is what they call a "gangster", he must be both a warrior and beggar, I will show you now a short multimedia presentation about an American musician named Mobb Deep, thank you"

I wouldn't be surprised if they get sent rap videos and episodes of COPS as reference.
