wwaw nobody watching Wrestlemania

I think this is the third. It might have started because of COVID, because they did a WM with nobody in the crowd and then they actually had fake crowd noise + monitors around the ring with fans/faggots tuning in and showing their faces. No, really.

They are so far gone now, it's unbelievable.
Would be hilarious if it became ChatRoullette and all the webcams were dudes cranking it

The main conceit of pro wrestling is that it's a legitimate sport, sanctioned by various wrestling promotions, where contenders wrestle one another in order to earn a shot at the championship. It is (or used to be) a serialized sports drama, where you suspend disbelief and pretend there are actual stakes involved. But over the last twenty years or so, Vince has moved away from that conceit and turned his promotion into a weird sideshow where oily faggots do comedy vignettes and jump from ladders for no apparent reason other than wanting to be "superstars". It's gay and completely unwatchable.
Agreed, them admitting it was fake took away that special something about wrestling too

There are dozens of alternates to choose from, more variety than ever. That doesn't make his show any better or worse.

WWE is far less woke as compared to most companies, but they have always been Blacked. Despite only The Rock being champion.
But they don't fire people for saying nigger on forums like most companies, so maybe Sam Roberts will be safe after all.
AEW is legit and ring of honor is big too, but when Vince bought the other ones he had a good 10 years or so with no real competition. There's no way in today's climate will you have an Iranian villain like iron sheik, a savage from the deep jungles like Kamala the Butcher, things like that.

WWE has 50+ years of content that strikes on a personal level with every demo 60 & under. AEW has some video clips of guys flipping around from last year. In terms of brand it's "the other one."

AEW is a vanity project like redneck TNA Impact. They cater to faggots who want to be gay together.
They will all remain stagnant in their places, in some cases for 20 years straight, only existing as a minor thorn in the side of the actual machine.

Ring of Honor? You mean the one that was just put on hiatus due to financial failure and was bought out by the same exact rich dude who owns the aforementioned vanity project? I attended most original ROH shows in my youth, the japanese shit was cool but none of it ever lived up to ECW, which it was meant to replace

Nobody watches Ring of Honor motherfucker

I don't watch or pay attention to wrestling, but I've seen bits over the years which were pretty funny, so I can't see how this type of entertainment can go "Woke". Can someone give me an example? There's no way going woke would be profitable for them considering there audience?

I have no clue any more. I'd say they wanted to cater more to kids what with John Cena and everything, but in reality they market to geeks who think the actual wrestling is the most important aspect, when it never was (even though it's important). They don't have real draws any more outside of Brock Lesnar, and the days of active wrestlers being real celebrities is long over.

So which one is it? One guy is arguing that there is competition and you're saying there isn't. I've stopped watching regularly in the 90s so I'll concede I'm not up to date.

No, there is definitely a plethora of other companies who are technically competition. My point is WWE has their system all figured out, and most of the other companies don't even have a fucking brand in mind. They just counter-program whatever WWE is doing at that moment and hope for the best.

Personally I would prefer to watch the ROH, or NWA product, but its not going to make money unless the presentation changes drastically. My point is more that WWE has a 50 year head start, and that comes with brand loyalty that is usually tied to family connections (grandparents/parents watching with their kids) and the video footage lures in multiple generations.

AEW is their biggest competition and they're not even 5 years old, they can't trace any lineage back to anything. Rather than an older relative saying "Oh I remember that. Is [x] still wrestling?" and bonding over it, they would say "Oh you mean that gay shit where the skinny guys flip around?"

In fact AEW is almost a carbon copy of WCW Nitro (the only competitor that has ever been successful against WWE.) There is no guarantee that Khan or his father will even care enough to fund this in 5 years, let alone have a 5 year business plan. They hire people willy nilly and see what sticks to the wall. Whereas WWE isn't even depending on their content anymore so much as licensing out their "system" which creates content, players/personalities/merch/etc.

It's like trying to open up a deli (with no name) across from a Subway... you might have better shit, but fucking nobody knows you and you don't even have enough product in stock to out-sell Subway. It's a losing battle from the first step. Vince carved out his niche and he's monopolized it. You can't beat him by copying him... he's already there. And you likely won't beat him by counter-programming him either, because then you've placed yourself in an entirely different business.

I've witnessed that webcam thing in passing, the fake sounds on speakers is jarring. Retards miming and pouting with thumbs down on camera.

Do they have live crowds again? Might be unwatchable but its so profitable they could have Roman Reigns take a nap in the ring and still get paid 1 billion
I remember one of the first ones they did where someone put up a still image of Benoit for a while. It was pretty funny, if not a little bit low class!

It definitely was that way for a long time - they were (and maybe still are) regulated by the state athletic competitions.

alkiefuck2

don't call me scarface
the fucking weirdest thing is the complete change in who's a fan of pro-wrestling now. bubba ray used to call the crowd faggots and people would cheer, now it's stereo-typical neckbeards who dislike the fun characters (ryback) and cheer for the "great workers" (japfag#57)
whaa happen?

i don't watch at all anymore, but i can't imagine how worse wwe will get when vince finally sells or dies
