I’m so glad I was a couple years past the whole Harry Potter craze - whole thing seemed stupid and adults still into it creep me the fuck out.

I remember going to school and seeing adults 10 or more years older than me reading the first one on the Tube when it hit in the UK, 98 or 99. Remember being baffled seeing 30 somethings reading it while I, a 16 year old tard, was reading Ken Kesey, Hunter Thompson and Kingsley Amis.

Same here - I was like 14/15 or so when it got big and it was elementary / middle school kids reading it and creepy adults in their 20s / 30s. Who of course the male ones were doing count downs for Emma Watson to turn 18.

Yeah it was Y100 in Philly when they still were around, it was the Preston & Steve morning show and they had been talking about how hot Lindsay Lohan was (at the time) in it and I think they even called it the “creep contest” where they had rented out a a theater for an afternoon screening that was going to be only “older” guys all watching “Mean Girls”

They’re still on in Philly on WMMR but obviously don’t do bits like that anymore. Early 2000s rock FM was something else.

I don't really think there are more pedos in the sci-fi and fantasy community than anywhere else but it's kinda starting to fuck with me cause there's just so much of it that it has to be widespread throughout pretty much every community. I've never really given it much thought but I've always assumed that pedos are super-rare but I guess they're much more commonplace than I thought and it's really fucking with me.

I don't think its creepy, the countdown clock I always took as not that serious, sort of a tongue-in-cheek humor thing. Especially w/the twins because they were literally babies when everyone in America met them. More of a statement about the passing of time than 'Omg now I can fuck them!'

Lohan playing Hermione (there it is again) on SNL in a skit where she went through puberty over the summer and had a big set of beefers even though she was still 17 at the time always stands out to me. Certainly made me want to fuck Lindsay Lohan without thinking about her age or whatnot. As much as she became a complete disaster she really was chewed up by the system.
