Why is all customer service / resolution stuff so excruciating now? It’s always been bad but now it’s just obscene.

I can't remember what it was specifically but there is shit that I see mentioned on here then I suddenly see it everywhere in ads. You could be in on it, maybe. Could be some consumer psychology thing like where you notice a certain model of car more if you buy it or someone close to you buys one, but either way I'm pretty sure you're jeff bezos or at least a nephew and I don't feel safe.
No wonder I'm getting ads for used 2009 Lexus

Any time boomers have meltdowns over shit customer service it just reminds me that they grew up in an entirely different world than me. I expect to be fucked at every opportunity and to be treated like dog shit while it happens. If I order Grubhub I just hope it's only my drink straw that's missing and accept that it's gonna take 2 hours to get here even when I tip well and pay their extortion tax level fees. As much as everyone shits on Amazon, in my experience, they have great customer service. They'll refund you for high price shit no questions asked provided you don't abuse it.

I'm not a boomer and I don't really have meltdowns but I empathize with anyone that does. This shit sucks dick and don't scream at the cashier, but scream at a manager so they can at least log "45 people threatened me with death over not having that good hot sauce anymore"

I wasn't pissed when I first read this thread, but now I am. And I've worked customer service. I was the asshole apologizing to you that your Xbox 360 had the three red lights and telling you the refurbish wouldn't be until after Christmas.

I've worked it too, which is why I'm always friendly to customer service people as long as they show genuine effort. People don't realize just how strict and regulated customer service is - you have extremely little leeway to help the customer if it doesn't say you should in the company's guidelines.

Take reminder's fees for example. I used to get like 10 calls a day about removing people's fees for some reason. "It's only 6 dollars. You can't be service minded and remove the fee, asshole?". Exactly idiot, it's only 6 dollars, so why are you spending one hour calling me about it? For you it's 6 dollars, but for me it's 300 dollars a week if I remove it whenever someone asks me to, and then I'll get fired.
