My sister lives in my parents old house, which I also own, nice try with the hate though have a good one.
I bought a small house in a good location at a more reasonable price because it needed modernising, it’s structurally sound or I wouldn’t have been able to get a mortgage on it, it was just very dated with some very old appliances that needed ripping out.
You can still do okay now if you play the system differently, it’s not as paint by numbers as the boomers had it. The next generation are fucked though, I honestly think they’ll have to take our mortgages to get cars, especially when they start mandating shit new electric ones with all of those “safety” sensors etc.

I was in a black neighborhood and they were handing out flyers and I rolled down my window. They started walking towards me then saw I was white and turned around. I respected it. I really wanted that flyer though.
I have a similar story.
At the start of the year I bought my first home, which had fallen into a state of disrepair from having one elderly woman live there alone since her husband died 20 years ago.
As of today, I’ve just about fixed it up completely, it looks awesome, I’ve just got some painting to do on three walls and a ceiling. I did 95% of it myself, I got a plumber to mess with the gas lines and an electrician for the breaker box.
I do 50 push ups and 50 sit ups each morning, can speak two languages and earn twice the median household income on my own. I’m probably going to ask the teenage runaway I’m “dating” to move in soon. I can paint little dollies like a fruit.
I’ve never taken any government hand outs in any shape and never will.
What couldn’t I handle?
