I'm the only "racist" in my family but I call it a picante sense of humor.
My grandpa, rest his soul, was concerned when I was like 11 because I exhibited racist behavior. But I just called it going "Ching chong ching egg roll" when the subject of asians came up. Sue me, it's funny.

No, Irish, the light-skinned niggers of the north. My stupid dying town was mostly Irish and Polack, with a few wops, a few "others" and a smattering of Jews here and there. In my high school, we had one black kid, one Hindu kid and one Asian girl.
My old man grew up in a completely FN-free part of Newark. You hear "Newark" and you think oh yeah, he probably saw FNs every single day, but the opposite was true. One time some FN rented a house down the street from ours, and he was just walking down the street, and my old man just couldn't believe it. He ran outside and stood there watching the guy, like he was going to start tap dancing or something. And he was in the army too, but it must have been some elite nigger-free platoon or something. He was always stunned when he saw one up close.

I'm not racist but I enjoy a good racial joke, from any angle. Same goes for my parents.

my mother (she's mental) will accidentally say racially insensitive things, but she tries to keep-up with the latest facebook bullshit & comply.
my father is a die-hard London media liberal.
they both recognise that I'm more worldly & intelligent than both of them (not a high bar I admit), so I occasionally get them into deep topics just to razz 'em when I'm drunk. (they deserve it)

Interesting question. I strongly suspect my mom was probably at least casually racist but she kept it to herself because she was a typical boomer and taught her kids "racism=bad". When I got older and would say racist shit in front of her she would just kind of roll her eyes and be like oh Rutherford that's not nice.
I had no idea my father was racist until I was older. I only saw him on Sundays and he wasn't in charge of teaching us morals or values. Or anything. I don't think I ever heard him even acknowledge race when I was a kid. I wouldn't be shocked if my mom requested this. Later in life I knew him as the most racist person I've ever known, and he would fantasize about killing niggers. He was also pretty brain damaged by that point.
So I guess somewhere in the middle?

My old man has the classic mixed-up WASP attitude to the small hats. Happy to interact with them and sing their praises on a case-by-case basis, but mistrusts them as a group on an instinctual level. He has got a lot more anti-black over the years too. "Why do they fail everywhere they go? Sooner or later you have to look in the mirror" type thing, not "lynch them all" or anything. Funny seeing as he was basically a full-on anti- apartheid activist when he was young.

My mum is thick as shit and is anti immigration when her own grandparents are immigrants a so every time she goes on a rant I point that out to show how she's only half English.
It's a good laff and shuts her up I don't particularly hold a massive point of view on it it's just funny to see her have to work out how to get around the shitty memes she parrots

I think if we were in Nazi Germany my dad (60) would have the title Obersturmbannführer or Gauleiter Schweiz or similar accolades.
He's been a deep racist all his life but learning how to browse the internet really brought it out of him.
Not calling out jews by name, but regularly bringing up "powerful, influential families" even on family dinners and such.
He says he does a lot of "research" which is hours of youtube doom scrolling and buying books people shill on their podcast advertising vehicles.
He has some cursory level knowledge of 21st century history and news throughout 80s-today but other than that...
He just recently stopped calling Albanians "dirty Yugos" or "boxheads" and says immigrant instead lol
