My dad drank his way through mediocrity in the corporate ladder. He made a healthy six figure income for most of his adult life and it was normal for him to get COMPED rooms at some of the best hotels in the world, and other shit like that. We didn't feel rich just middle class. This was normal for boomers.

I know partners at major accounting firms who don't get COMPS like this these days. Imagine growing up in a world where a BA in history, a bullshit MBA and an IQ north of 115 meant a guaranteed easy life.

I still don't know exactly what the old man did and we were pretty close. I don't think it was much of anything. Just one of those go-between corporate jobs with a title like "regional director of [x]".

THAT’S BECAUSE LIBTARD YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT “HARD WORK” MEANS!

My dad actually had a company car for decades and he was just district and later regional manager of a chain restaurant. I thought that was normal but we weren’t rich - def middle class. Things are different now.

There’s still some of those vague type jobs out there - like in my line of work (finance) you’ll have people that will be in manager type positions yet not actually manage anyone.
Hah that's funny man I genuinely forgot about the cars.

Brand new Taurus, then Ford Expedition then finally an Escalade a few years later, 100% free, unlimited fuel card to include cross-country personal trips should you desire.

As you say this was all normal. Zoomers must read this stuff and think we're lying.

I do alright. Not loaded, not struggling, I work devops for a company you've probably heard of if you work in IT. I have a young family to support and own a house in a nice, quiet, white part of the country. Life isn't as cheap as it used to be and some days I miss my shitty £200/month flat and having money to burn on ounces of weed at a time.

Taurus! That’s what they kept giving him. He would get a brand new one like every 3 years I think. We didn’t fly anywhere for vacation once he started getting the company car with a gas card / reimbursed.

Even funnier - my dad didn’t even have a college degree. Actually, only my uncle (his brother) and my mom had college degrees (mom had a good job in pharmaceuticals - she was involved with research / development / safety to get drugs to be approved for the market) out of my parents. My dad, his two sisters, and my mom’s two brothers and one sister all don’t have college degrees but we’re all able to get jobs, buy homes, raise families, etc - fawkin boomers! And outside of my mom and dad - all the others (besides my college degree uncle) have zero saved for retirement and just plan on social security to take care of it all. Seriously, I was shocked how many of my boomer relatives who had the easiest lives all never bothered to pay into a 401k / invest / etc

No he was too proud to pay for it but he was cheating left and right. He started banging these weirdo swinger types for a while and left my mom for one of them.

He got into that "scene" from drinking with WWF guys at airport bars, apparently. He lived on the road and subsequently ran into those dudes everywhere.

Those road stories must be something with the WWF guys - really explains why so many from that group died young with how much they were on the road and partying so much.

I dont make all that much. 65kish on a good year. I've got some half decent stocks in developing companies and a particular startup that includes many actual elites, which is pretty exciting. Im expecting for that startup to jew the fuck out of me and be left with nothing, but if not, i'll be a rich little fuck.

I make decent money, though I fucking hate my job and career. Been investigating jobs with the US Parks Dept for maybe less money, but also less personal misery. I already work for the govt (not a great fit since I hate niggers and jews), so it’s a lateral move but I’m tired of email/zoom/etc

You have a New York government job? You’d be nutts to give that up.

Though your rent and general cost of living probably eats up your salary.

Not to shit on your dream but I’ve heard nothing but garbage about the Park Dept. Everyone who likes the outdoors seems to think they can semi-retire and be a park ranger or something and so now all those jobs are hard to get and like GS-6 and they get treated like crap.
