Technically, no. Pat's claimed someone called in pretending to be him and claiming to have shot his wife... but he's also claimed to be a martial artist, marathon runner, successful professional author and to have fought off multiple cops trying to handcuff him, so.....

Yeah, they do. They're responding to a shooting. If Pat's the shooter, they need to get him into cuffs and out of the house (and away from any weapons). If he's not the shooter, they need to get him out of the house anyway; and if they're not sure, they need him in cuffs in case he turns out to be the shooter and e.g. grabs a cop's gun.

We allow the police to infringe on people's human rights for the good of society. That's not just the standard here, it's the standard around the world. Every country in the world allows police to stop people while they're travelling - infringing that human right - and question what they're up to. Every country in the world allows police to handcuff and imprison people.

If Pat had have been living in the most socialist, left-wing country in Scandinavia and the police got a tip-off there was an active shooter in his house he would have been treated the same way; although he'd likely be Baker Acted after his outburst in countries with decent mental healthcare.

The use of force by the state is always going to look ugly, but that doesn't mean it's always wrong.

You don't have to agree with his politics - I sure as shit don't - but he'll change your mind on police stuff. Wonder why police don't just tase/capstun people? He's got video of a guy holed up in a hotel room with a knife, who shrugs off a couple of tasers, some capstun, and then I think bean-bag round number eight finally slows him enough the police can swarm him. Since the incident, we've all been laughing at the audio, picking out the best parts etc. But can we just take a minute to acknowledge how fucking unreasonable this swine was being with the police?

I've seen people like Null take his side and say that he was rightfully angry at the police for doing what they did but why? He was so irate because the officers who showed up to his half hovel weren't aware of his story but what difference would that have made? They'd still have to treat it like a real incident, even if they're aware there's a good chance it's a hoax. Did he actually expect them to call him first?

Also threatened to neutralize a 13yr old who said the word 'Fatrick' in a public place.

Word on the street is that the commissioner has established a hotline directly to Rick. There's a big red phone on his desk that no one else is allowed to touch, and every time any crime is commiTTed on that street, the commish goes straight for the red phone to ask if it's okay to investigate.

And if permission to send officers is granted, it's his job to also make sure to hold back the six who've been told to never return, no matter how badly they may be needed in a crisis.
