Seasons 2 - 10 of the Simpsons is some of the best TV ever made.

My answer would probably be Only Fools and Horses.

I’m being an autistic faggot here but it always irks me when people leave out the first season when talking about classic Simpsons. I get that it’s very different to what came later and Homer was a totally different character but there are still so many great episodes in there.

I’d rather watch any episode from the first season than any of the shite they’ve been pumping out for the last 20 years.

Fair point. The quality of the animation, the over focus on Bart, Castellaneta not having Homer's voice right yet all drag it down from the seasons that follow for me. It's the same with Peep Show. The creators took a season to realise what their show was.

Good point. I do like the first season of Peep Show a lot though. It felt a lot more grounded than what came later even if the later seasons were funnier. Also Olivier Colman was actually pretty hot in the first season too, so it made sense why Mark was enamoured with her.

The animal ones at least could be good but so many are just Pitbulls dressed in pajamas. For being “influencers” so many of these creators have zero creativity. I saw one from a female bartender that has millions of followers and she was giving her “hot take” how it’s crazy at 18 you can vote and join the army but you have to be 21 to buy beer. This has millions of views? That’s John and Jeff level content.

“References” aren’t what makes it funny. The writing, the little quips, the dumb things characters say, one liners, the way characters react in an ironic fashion, without them realizing it. And no other show used that as the source of comedy as well or as distinctly as The Simpsons.

See, you don’t need to know the intricate details about all of those conflicts to find it funny. In fact, the details don’t matter at all. You don’t even have to know that Japan exists in order to find this funny. The joke is that Scots are retarded trouble makers who are too stupid for their own good.

I used to think like you do, but it’s probably just youthful arrogance. I would do that to older people all the time when they would make a reference to something from before my time. In reality, it just made me look like a fawking dope who can’t connect to something just because I’ve ever heard of it before.

It takes 2 seconds to guggle it. You young niggers have the answers to every question that every generation before you had to struggle with on their own for decades. And yet somehow, you all mostly still are just as ignorant and unaware of before your time than ever before, if not moreso.

At my current age, when young people try to play the fake tough guy act and say “you’re old!!!” because I mentioned something they’ve never heard of before, I just shake my head at them being proud of their insignificance. They put no time in, yet they act like we’re all here to impress THEM.

Young people with no memories and no frame of reference have this oddball confidence to act unimpressed when they don’t understand.

Pop culture is just something use to pretend they are cultured because they ignore anything that was too long ago to be relevant to them. Just because they don't get the references doesn't make the Simpsons worse than the many shows that it inspired. Same with Married With Children. It was the show that allowed all those to exist.
