I think most people are on board with eugenics they just have a (likely justified) fear of their own genetic infiriority and the gun being turned on them.

You'd have to be a moron to think that it wouldn't be used as yet another method of horrific social control. We'd have to invest the power to choose in the state and there's nothing to stop the state from using its medical arm to deem the politically undesirable as genetically defective.
