Twin Peaks takes a big long shit through most of season 2, but the last of those episodes watch pretty gud. Sopranos has some stinker episodes too but they're more spread out.

Meadow was ugly how the fuck was that pig even on TV? Nikki and Jackie are way way hotter 🤬🔥

Before the third season on Showtime, I would have said Sopranos. But The Return stuck with me like TV hadn’t in a long time. Had that last episode on my mind for days. The way it wove in Fire Walk with Me made the movie retroactively better.

Not so with Many Saints.

Twin Peaks.

Nothing stays with you like it.

The theory about Bob being tv violence and Laura being balance (the giant / fireman is old cinema and the little guy/the arm is new media/tv violence) in the media is compelling. Ironically the retard audience missed the point and demanded they reveal the killer early in season 2.

The return was a master piece.

Many Saints is legitimately one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I don't possibly see how The Sopranos is on any "greatest of all time" lists anymore after that colossal piece of flaming dogshit. I wish I was there at the premier to throw acid in David Chase's face.

It was actually Bob Iger that demanded they reveal the killer, he said in his recent autobiography that he regrets that.

If I hadn't seen the 45 mins or whatever of it that I made it through, the series probably would've still held that position in my mind. But that movie was so fucking bad, it tainted the whole thing. In a way I'm sort of glad because it's kinda gay to have reverence for pop culture and that cinematic turd broke the spell for me. Bunch of fruits playing dress up and pretending to be tough guys, reading corny dialogue that some out of touch dork came up with. Nice shoehorning a cuckold scene and a unnecessary hamfisted racial subplot into your mob story, stupids.

Not sure. I think the Sopranos was much more consistently entertaining (as someone who doesn’t like horror in general) and less “challenging” but Twin Peaks was far more influential. I think David Chase worked on the show Northern Exposure before creating the Sopranos which was apparently heavily inspired by Twin Peaks.

I’m going to be the contrarian here and say I thought the Return was extremely overrated and only got praise because there hadn’t been a good new show in a while and the high reputation of the original run. Way too long and repetitive to me. I hated most of the Dougie storyline. Same joke over and over again. The music performances at the end were unnecessary to me.

The constant product placement broke the immersion and made it feel like any other show and not something made by David Lynch. Also I thought the tone was too dark compared to the original show and I felt like Lynch was testing the patience of the viewers too much. I like the little optimistic moments in the original show that were mostly absent in the return besides a couple of tiny moments.
