The casinos are a bit more than that - Trump marina was sold to Golden Nugget and Trump Taj Mahal was sold to Hard Rock. Castle failed but Plaza it’s more detailed than that and he was long out of AC since the mid 90s and other people were running it, years later those were all being sold. Plaza had people interested to buy (they were trying to sell for years) but the financial crash of 2008 really fucked AC up and their chances of selling (trump casinos weren’t the only ones to file for bankruptcy in this time frame)Trump Airlines: Fail
Trump Mortgage: Fail
Trump Vodka: Fail
Trump: The Game: Fail
Trump Water: Fail
Trump Steaks: Fail
Trump Magazine: Fail
GoTrump.com: Fail
Trump University: Fail (Sued for fraud and settled.)
Trump Shuttle: Fail
Trump Taj Mahal: Fail (Filed bankruptcy during inaugural year.)
Trump Plaza & Casino: Fail (Filed bankruptcy)
Trump Castle: Fail (Filed bankruptcy)
Trump Entertainment Resorts: Fail (Filed bankruptcy)
For example the Revel in AC cost 2.4 billion to build (they started before the crash and didn’t finish until 2011) and barely made it a year before bankruptcy / shut down / sell off for huge loss. Hilton casino also had a property that went bankrupt in AC, Showboat shut down, etc. and this was due to not only the tough years post 2008 (2005 was the best year on record for AC) but surrounded states like PA and DE got gambling legalized (I believe PA now has more casinos than AC) which was another hit to the business.
Not saying he’s some casino genius but there’s more factors in the AC casinos failing.
Hilary Clinton did a campaign stop in 2016 in front of the closed Trump plaza (of course maybe 30 people showed up) on the boardwalk and claimed it was Trump is the only person to lose money with a casino. That of course did not go over well with casino employees since multiple casinos had gone out of business in AC and it wasn’t related to Donald Trump and she was taking advantage of a rough patch in AC as many employees had lost their jobs - not from Plaza or Taj (most Taj were rehired when it reopened as Hard Rock) but from Revel (2.4 billion dollar disaster casino) Showboat, Hilton, and even the never build but long proposed MGM land property between Borgata and Harrahs.
