The vast majority of "lies" that people like this complain about are actually "assessments of reality that I disagree with" because they're incapable of distinguishing between facts and opinions. Happens all the time in Canadian politics. If a "conservative" grants the premise that climate change is anthropogenic but says "we need to balance the environment against the needs of the citizenry" all the progs start hollering about "climate change denial". The idea that somebody might look at the same set of facts and reach a different conclusion doesn't even occur to them as a possibility.
