I’m genuinely curious how 22 months (more like 3.5 years) stacks up against how long some masterpieces in film and writing have taken. It seems like an awfully long time for something that won’t immedietly net him 6 figures

Figuring out the antagonist of the novel 2 years into it? I’m sure the preceding 200 pages are a masterpiece when the author didn’t even know the character he was writing.

This project ALMOST makes me feel pity for him. This will be such a humiliation when he finishes. No one will publish it, so he’ll blame the trolls. Then maybe we will get self-published Amazon Pat finally, and he’ll sell perhaps 30 copies total and we will have definitive proof that the author LARP is over.

The reality of it is is that its taking so long not only because he surely doesn't stick to a strict writing schedule, but he's doing this period piece where he is larping as a historian. You can see him just going through wiki page after wiki page trying to iron out needless details when its just useless busy work.

Stephen King shits out like 400 page original stories in days but Patrick is channeling all of his brain power into this. You missed the boat on the Pride and Predjudice and Zombies/Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter shit, Pat. It was already done and it was a shitty fad that everyone entirely forgot about because it sucked.

Well Pat I’d think you would at least try to get this done in time for a holiday release since you decided to right a book with a very specific time frame to generate interest (late nov to Christmas) because no publisher would put this out in the spring or summer.

Due to his twitter addiction / alcoholism / severe mental illness his writing as obviously suffered severely as it’s taken him 2-3 years to write something that most authors would do as a side project. It’s a tiny Tim as an adult but every character will sound like Pat and be nothing but snark.

This book idea is something that would have been a quick visual joke on something like 30 rock. Or like in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back with “Good Will Hunting 2 - Hunting Season”

I can’t see even Pat’s ballwasher dorks being into this - especially since they hate anything Christmas related. It’s like a movie you add to your watch list on a streaming service and never actually watch and forget about
