My kid was playing baseball during this and when we went to the first game the stands were wrapped in yellow tape. Dugouts=fine, parents staggered around bleachers=not fine. We just tore down the yellow tape and used them anyway. Most of the coaches, everyone volunteering for the league were cops, who never wore masks and they didn't say shit. Also, on our team, my kid was the only one not wearing a muzzle during practice/games for the first few months of playing. Before the first practice the coach called and mentioned that they all had to wear masks. I said "well my kid can't wear one, because of a health condition, if that's not a problem we'll see you tomorrow." He said come on down so we did. Only white kid there, only kid without a mask. It was awesome. First meeting I'm on a bleacher with a bunch of masked up black folks. It was all so funny. All the other coachers besides ours were cops and they never wore masks, except for on opening day when our now governor/then sheriff Lombardo(from Oct. 1 shooting) was there to throw out the first pitch. After pictures for the news, the cops took them off.

She was the first kid in the school to not wear the mask. I told her that although I didn't believe in the mask, that I understood that she wanted to sit near her friends and participate so she could wear the mask and be with her friends.

She still said no and sat separated for months. I get angry now thinking about it. But I'm also proud of her.

And all these chicken shit other parents who just went along with it even though the governor rescinded the mask mandates -- these chicken shit conservative parents who were supposedly against the mask still had their kids mask up for months until the local school board finally said they weren't mandatory. My kindergardner had more fucking back bone than 100% of the elementary school parents complaining. My 5yo was the only kid for MONTHS in the school not wearing a mask, and I told her she could change her mind at any time.

I actually think this time people in my area will lock down harder.

And yes I should home school. And no, unfortunately I'm not at a point where I can due to previous life choices I made before I would have ever considered home school. That's how they fucking get you.

We were lucky enough to be able to homeschool our son who was 10/11 at the time. He wanted to go back but not enough to follow the bullshit. He wanted to go to a school board protest and I took him.

The daughter in high school had the choice and wanted to go back because she's in a special teach program with a bunch of AP classes and shit. It was really fucked up but she went for like a semester of masks. We never let her wear those dumbfuck plastic masks, but of course that means you've got to spend your own money on "this mask doesn't work" slogan type masks.

I still want our school board to boil alive (there's only 1 in all of vegas) and watch and drink beers.
