Scott Speedman was in a movie nobody saw called Weirdsville that I liked a lot. I remember almost nothing about it other than my girlfriend, a couple of my friends and me all liked it. It also made me afraid of big icicles

Speedman is one of the many that should've taken off but never found the right starring project to get it done. He's good, but not charismatic enough to get the job done on his own.

You know, I think the last two decades have been the longest time Hollywood has been without a bona fide horror actor, amirite @TheGhostOfAbeVigoda? No one has really replaced Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, or Christopher Lee. Robert Englund had a stretch in the 90's, then in the 2000's, you could MAYBE make an argument for Sid Haig, but he never starred, just small roles like Dick Miller and Patrick Magee. I don't think there's been an It Guy for horror since.

I'm just asking questions.

Basically Robert Englund and Tony Todd are the closest we've got. And even still, they had their one iconic role and everything else is a cameo. It's always "Hey, that's Freddie/The Candyman."

EXACTLY! You have no go-tos anymore.

In directors, you still do. Jordan Peele and Rob Zombie get by on name value, and they're... Fine. Blumhouse has made his name producing such films, like a modern Corman. M. Night is hit and miss, but he's interesting. Leigh Whannell has kept his clout.

But there's no reliable star actors for them anymore. I am noticing more falling A Listers joining in, though, like Carey Elwes with the first Saw all the way to Dennis Quaid and Demi Moore now with The Substance.
