He absolutely did not suck. You're out of your mind. He has MIss St ranked #1 until they had to play the rest of the SEC West. Bama and LSU ate him alive, but he was a one-man-band. Don't you remember there were two weeks that year where Miss St and Ole Miss were ranked 1-2?
They were very good, they just didn't have talent to compete with the SEC West monsters.
Edit: they actually beat LSU that year.
They lost to Bama and Ole Miss (who beat Bama that year, I was at the game).
That is widely considered the best Miss State team of all time. He did not suck.

No, he's always been over his head in the League. But he's officially an SEC legend for bringing Miss State to the #1 ranking, even if only for a couple weeks.
Again, in 2014, after Ole Miss upset Bama, Miss St and Ole Miss were ranked 1-2. It was a weird time to be a fan. Mississippi is the worst state in the union and has no money and all their good recruits go to schools out of state. But there they were at the top, and people were wondering what would happen if they ran the table - of course they'd have to play each other and one would lose, but Bama and LSU did the same in 2011 and ended up playing each other in the title game anyway.
Long story short, for about two weeks, there was a small chance the two Mississippi teams were going to play each other for a title and it was one of the most fun times I can remember being an SEC fan.
