What usually happens when they start cutting rates is that the market flips - bad news is actually taken as bad news, so increasing unemployment will actually drop the market, causing them to slash rates again. The market corrects to the interest rate, so if you're in a decent area for housing, you might as well just lock in a mortgage as early as you can afford so you can let inflation be your ally in eating away at the real cost of housing.
