I don't know what, if any, outright political ideologies they had in the past but I'm not sure people here realize just how big and important the SFWA has been in the genre(s). They've been around since the mid 60s and right away started giving out their Nebula awards. Used to be if you saw 'winner of the Nebula Award' on a sci-fi book you knew it'd be good or at least worth reading. It means jack shit now and I'm glad Pat killed the entire thing.

I love Dune and I know they won the Nebula awards and it was a meaningful thing, now they’re a collection of pedophile activists who are angry at anything normal.

It’s gone from the best sci fi books ever written being proud to associate with them, to aspiring new authors wanting nothing to do with them at all.
