Also I feel like there haven’t been that many live action kids movies in the last 20 years (especially not comedies) so he was able to thrive with shit like grown ups/jack and jill that were made specifically for families with kids

Sandlers whole circle seems to be content with their position and don’t feel the need to try to be something they’re not. They’re probably the happiest group in Hollywood.

Sandler is like the Bon Jovi of Hollywood. He stinks, and has no business being a global superstar, but people really seem to like him. I once watched "Click" on a flight and I genuinely wanted to die.

Jack and Jill was such a massive flop that it had to spend a record 59 weeks at the foreign box office where it made $75,515,631, just inching over the domestic. Consider that the advertising costs are equal to the budget, especially for international releases. It was rumored they left it in theaters until they recouped their advertising budget of $75 million. It still lost $5 million domestically.

His biggest hits always made over $100 million in the US in the 2000's. He couldn't even make back the budgets in the next decade.
That being said, he bombed more often this decade, and bigger. What's weird is that the foreign markets later picked up in the 2010's.
