The two most popular games in the series are both period pieces but it's been 20 years since one.

I could forgive GTA 4, because it was a GTA 3 for the new consoles with the revolutionary graphics and open world at the time and the Slav crime aspect hadn't been done yet.

But between GTA 5 and now 6 I'm so sick of this awful current day theme. I don't want to drive a mini coop, I don't want to play as a sassy latina, I don't want to do missions where I break into facebook.

The fact that those Scottish retards didn't make GTA 6 set in the 70s, imagine the joy of running over Vietnam vets in a Lincoln with sweet talking woman on the radio. Every cutscene would be filled with mafia wops saying " EY OH PAL " and black panthers calling you jive turkey.

Haven't played any since San Andreas; this confirms the the GTA series is finished. RDR3 will have a female main character.

I doubt Rockstar could make a fighting system as good as the one in Sleeping Dogs.

The Warriors Game had OK combat, but it didn't age very well.

Sleeping Dogs came 12 years ago and it still plays leagues ahead of any open world game with hand-to-hand (or cleaver-to-face, youknowwhatimean) combat.

The shooting sucked, though...

I replayed Sleeping Dogs when covid started so I could beat up chinks in wet markets and yeah, it's still like shockingly good. Shooting does suck though.

The DMAN was seriously hoping that the next GTA would be a throwback tribute to 1999 / new millennium era, back where these games were actually popular.

As you said, their 2 most popular games were lampooning culture from 20 years ago. But GTA 3 started it all, that one was modern day. Well now, it's been 20 years since 2004, but somehow things feel so similar despite obvious outliers like tranny acceptance.

There's a lot to make fun of, but the biggest changes from 2004 to now are completely off limits to mock (like trannies, fags, etc) so don't be surprised if Donald Love is an evil orange dictator trying to hold back the strong independent woman who kills and steals for a living while depending on her boyfriend to drive her around. The first Passenger Princess main character in a game based on stealing and driving cars. Fantastic shit, guys.

They could have just skipped the horrible Remakes of the first 3 GTA and just done a brand new GTA game that mocks the post 9/11 Era. They could have had an awesome O&A shock jock parody, or better yet reunite the fellas to do the show live on the GTA platform. But that would be innovative and we cannot have that.

I've actually thought about this before (hoo hoo), 3 gets away with it because that was still a cracking time and the music is good, and 4 works due to the russian angle, loved that shit. Modern America/World is gay as fuck, there's nothing to parody at this point, unless they had balls which they don't.

Yes it did, bottling a hobo over the head, or grabbing someone from behind and knifing them still feels brutal, I replayed it not long ago and it holds up, smashing heads into walls and whatnot.

Years ago when I noticed people stop complaining about how violent the game was and started bringing up the lack of a female lead and I knew it was eventually going to have to happen.

I've had every single GTA (except the London 1961 expansion that was only on PC, but did get London 1969 on PS1.) I even got GTA 1 on launch day from Funcoland with my Uncle and still have it to this day (it's actually my oldest possession) needless to say I love the franchise but now i see the end of the road with 6 being potentially woke garbage, which is sad really.

Once Benzies Lazlow and the Hauser's leaving it was doomed.

But hey, strong female lead, amirite?
