That's the best denial in the entire thing. I'm sure this one was especially shocking and they both truly believed that making a few vague demands was the same as working with the police. Same way he believes Ade fucked him over with annabelle instead of his ODD being the problem.
Im sure this case is going to live and die on his inability to see what a belligerent, oppositional prick he really is. He should try being agreeable and open even for just a week and I'm sure his life would improve immeasurably.
