Unfortunately, this has legs. A good amount of people I know IRL that are depressed about this election are sharing this around, and are doing the "tap sign" meme from The Simpsons about it.
But it does show you who these people are. They have a large amount of contempt for anyone complaining about prices being too high, as it underlines the trade-offs coming from their policies. "Why can't we just do these things without dealing with the byproducts? Why can't people be as obedient and neutered as we are (ie: Open-minded and kind)? Why can't they just 'take it'?" This kind of thinking is precisely what killed the neocons back in '08, and it is killing the democrats now, with some differences.
Moreover; It's the ability to say and venerate (through their post-modern bullshit) how complicated society is, without actually being able to contend with how complicated society is.
