Thing is that Pat is EXACTLY the kind of abusive husband who is always able to sweet-talk the battered wife into coming home, promising he’ll change, etc. Nothing would surprise me. But he’s been suspiciously quiet about why she chose to spend her birthday as far away from him as possible.

She spends ALL holidays and get-togethers with her family away from him. He has not been welcome with her family since as long as we've known him. I really hope your divorce theory wasn't hinging on that.

No and I posted it as a poll for good reason. With marriages like this, no one should be so sure it’s a done deal until the divorce is official. A lot of crazy couples will file and pull divorce papers just so they’ll have drama. Either it makes them feel like they’re living a fascinating, passionate life and/or it’s an abusive relationship (usually mutually abusive based on what I’ve seen).

Filed papers alone would be solid confirmation of the way things are going. But just like I don’t count on any income until the funds clear (check in the mail means very little), I won’t be relieved for Niki until she’s legally severed from him.
