It’s unknown what role they played in boosting peoples economic status and by the time he left, Minnesota now had a deficit. However, he also massively reduced government spending. He refused to pass any funding to keep the Governors mansion upkept because it cost millions of dollars and he barely lived there - Saw it as a waste of tax money. He did a lot to reduce school sizes and make housing affordable though.

What Jesse will be remembered for as Governor was how progressive he was and how almost all of his positions would be emulated by later politicians. He was for the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and supported gay marriage all the way back in 1999.
