During the time when podcasts were taking off and the radio show format was dying, Opie and Anthony wanted to be treated like rock stars and have huge event budgets from the struggling company that employed them. They didn't get treated like royalty so decided to "quiet quit" and be lazy as fuck.

Because the "suits down the hall" didn't give them money the company didn't have to run comedy tours, etc., that means they couldn't concentrate on doing a good radio show for the four hours they were hired to do?

The company we work for on a dying medium won't pay for us to tour up and down the eastern seaboard to recreate the past, so now we'll just let Sam Roberts host part of our show so we can sleep in. Great idea, guys.

SiriusXM was shelling out ludicrous amount of cash to Howard and other 'celebrity' hosts in harebrained schemes at promotion. Money clearly wasn't the issue. There's a whole saga where management did suddenly agree to host an O&A and it quickly became clear that it was because of the negotiations with Stern. The moment that was worked out, they fawkin ghosted the b-b-boys. O&A might've been whiny bitches about it, but it's certainly clear that management really didn't give a care about them at the end, pardon my French.
