It might explain why he was so desperate not to have that debtor's exam, and why a family member jumped in at the last second to #PayQuasi. It's likely a combination of things. Lynne laundering money through Niki's sham business, tax/welfare scams, other totally illegal and dishonest methods of making money that Patrick totally deserves because he's a fighter against Fascism. Nevertheless if the books are opened, it's likely not just Patrick who goes down. Nobody wants to throw down $38,000 to bail out a retard, but the bigger expense is hiring lawyers to fight an IRS case.

Nobody has shown his digital sales numbers so thats a missing variable on his book income. Id guess that check covered the majority of the computer but he might have had to come out of pocket a couple hundred bucks to cover the difference. Whatever he makes its not enough to live off of alone.

I really have no idea. Im not sure how that industry pays out or what cut of sales he gets. Some people on kiwi are more familiar with how much he could possibly get paid out and one fella has a way of seeing pats physical book sales. So you could get a partial idea of what he made. There is no way he makes more than a few beers worth of residuals a year. He is on some form of government assistance for sure. Maybe disability, possibly section 8 based on where he lives. He's only ever admitted to being on "Obamacare" but there is certainly more than that filling the trough.

It's less than $100. None of his Tor Books titles have earned out, and his Angry Robot books sell maybe a dozen copies here and there when he "goes viral" or they are on sale for $1. He bought the laptop to give people the illusion that he makes a living off his writing.

Pat’s fiscal status is fascinating.

I knew someone whose parents had money and supported him periodically when he fucked up with credit cards or wasn’t working. He claimed they kept track of all the money they lent him and he made repayments when he had the dough to. I didn’t buy the repayment part; I figured instead that they were keeping track of it to deduct it from his eventual inheritance.

I could see Lynn doing the same with the mortgage/utilities/debt judgments she’s absorbing. Could explain why Pig is so unbothered. It’s Niki’s money he’s wasting. Pat spends what they bring in or grift from the government on his scooter and vacation and the essentials are covered by Lynn.
