I have no idea why anyone in North America would want to emulate hooligans when they're pretty much universally reviled throughout the rest of the world. They wore out their welcome and whatever respect they may have had a long time ago. Every country that had them has either cracked down hard or have a public clamor to follow suit whenever the sadsacks act up.
It's funny you of all people bring that up, one of the best moments I've ever experienced was at a Scotland v Canada friendly at Easter Road where your fans were chanting LETS GO CANADA and everyone else in the stadium was pissing themselves laughing. I find the singing and chanting kinda gay, but I kinda get it if it's a song that was written for the club like 100 odd years ago and only your fans sing it.
The US opinion of European football seems to be that they don't know how to market it and we know better. The reality is that it's pretty clueless. That's why you have Man Utd and Chelsea buying players for marquee value and stock inflation rather than effective play and they're now both in the shitehouse. I'm only half joking with that last post, it won't happen but they're stupid enough to try.
Yeah, absolutely. The reasons football got so big are mostly environmental, it doesn't really have anything to do with management. If anything, those have been proven to be the most reliably incompetent and corrupt bodies in charge of any industry of that size.
