When I want to hear soul music, I'll put on Al Green.

The only person thinking this is real soul music is Jim Norton.

And I listen to Curtis Mayfield all the time but understand the impulse of wanting to make something like that if you're a guy that makes music. Not saying it's anywhere near that level but I thought it was gonna be completely terrible.

The music isn't terrible. The singing is though. His voice is shot and requires auto tune now.

I thought it was just the gyration that took me out of it, but I listened to the next song which had no video, and it was still awful.

The songs aren’t the problem at all. The whole reason I ended up down this rabbit hole was because I was listening to covers of “La-La Means I Love You.” Love that tune. Then I happened across Paul’s cover and did a bit of a dive on this vanity project.
