For the sake of the argument, if you were Quasi, if you had the $60k lying around, wouldn't it be worth spending even if you were unlikely to ever get it back, just to quash the subpoena, keep your identity from being revealed in open court, and definitively release you from any legal liability in the civil suit that you were the defendant in? Certainly a man with $60k to defend themselves in a lawsuit likely has other assets that are substantially more valuable that were at risk if the case didn't go in your favor. More importantly, if you were a man with $60k just lying around, you certainly didn't achieve such wealth by spending money foolishly, and it would be assumed you possess enough patience to play the long game and relentlessly exercise your rights to recovery even if it takes you years to collect?
