I'd like to propose a different theory. When he's around Mama Raven's second, better son, he is probably meek and more quiet than usual. He's known his whole life that his little brother was better than him, smarter than him, and destined to be more successful than him. Heck, that's probably where half of these insecurities and overcompensating behaviors come from. So when they're in the same room, P@t only talks smart about shit he knows his brother knows (and cares) little about, like The Foo Fighters, Tom Cruise movies, attacking tanks with paint, etc.

I think we need more info on Kyle. I think theres a whole story arc there that we havent tapped into yet. Same w the tenants. I personally wouldnt cantact these people, but they sure do pique my interest. Do they know the truth? What do they think?

For the hell of it I looked up what else was in theaters at the time just to see what their choices were. It was basically Despicable M3 or Baby Driver, which seems right up Pat's alley. They went with the children's movie obviously.
