people like pat have watched too much tv and they think the other side is always going to back down like they see happen in fiction. They lack the theory of the mind to understand the other sides motivations and that they don't see themselves as the 'bad guys'. Same reason they shit on the south because they have the audacity to see the north destroying all their infrastructure and agriculture as a bad thing.
