That was the brief version. Patrick is a dream case study. If there's a well documented fault to be made he's going to make it, and keep making it because his ego wont let him learn anything. I've never seen anything quite like it.

It's a horrible joke in any form but why would you say "Jimmy Doyle from The French Connection" instead of just "Popeye Doyle"? Proof that he wrote that joke working backwards from "Hackman" and googled "Gene Hackman characters" and picked one. No one with even a passing familiarity with the movie would call him "Jimmy Doyle from the French Connection". Fat cocksucker.

Probably because he'd never heard of The French Connection so he assumes his audience hasn't either. Pat has the baby boy mentality where nobody could possibly know something he doesn't.

My favourite Pat stand-up bit was when he had to beg the crowd to cheer for Jurrasic Park and he eventually got a smattering of pity applause.
