I'm no carpenter but I don't think that would even cause much of an issue long-term if it was an isolated incedent. It doesn't look good but if the roof settles it will push the gap closed.

That’s what it looks like. A shed with a permit needs to follow hurricane rules now though. I hope it is his roof though. A real contractor won’t touch that unless he can remove the entire roof and replace it.
