Near term spec fic means he's not even going to try and geek it up. Its just going to be the topical political ramblings of a madman and it will be out of date years before he releases it.
Although more likely it will be an ongoing journal entry because it wont get published and until Tiny Tim in space drops I'm not interested in hearing his idiotic WIP updates.

He knows he burnt all his bridges in the sci-fi community so has to jump to another genre.
