1. Learning an entire language just to use it on vacation is retarded. You will sound retarded and borderline insulting to the locals as you are basically implying that your incredibly shitty local tongue is better than their English which most of them have a decent grasp on and practice regularly.
2. It should take no more than 6 months to learn a language. Spend a few months memorizing common words and tenses, then practice it and listen to the native speakers. At this point we're in year like 6 of Pat trying to learn Spanish, and he is still using Google Translate phraseology like "disfruta prision, acosador"
