Dear @chocolatehellhole

I am reaching out as a long-time member of the OnA forums to express my deep concern and frustration with the behavior exhibited by several moderators on this platform. While I have greatly enjoyed the forum and found it to be a source of both community and entertainment, recent experiences have led me to believe that certain moderators are engaging in conduct that borders on bullying. This has made it increasingly difficult to participate in discussions without feeling targeted or unwelcome.

First and foremost, I want to make it clear that this complaint is not about isolated disagreements or differences of opinion. I understand that moderating a comedy forum comes with its challenges, especially in distinguishing humor from harassment. However, I have repeatedly noticed a pattern of behavior that goes beyond fair enforcement of rules and instead reflects a personal bias or even vendetta. Specifically:

1. Unequal Enforcement of Rules: It has become apparent that some moderators enforce rules inconsistently, penalizing certain members for minor infractions while ignoring similar or even more severe violations by others. I have observed posts and comments that align with forum guidelines being flagged or removed without justification, while other, clearly inappropriate content remains untouched. This kind of selective enforcement not only undermines the integrity of the forum but also creates an atmosphere of unfairness and bias.

2. Public Shaming and Humiliation: On multiple occasions, I have witnessed moderators responding to posts or comments with condescending remarks, belittling language, or outright mockery. Instead of addressing issues constructively, some moderators seem to take pleasure in publicly shaming users. This is especially concerning in a forum dedicated to comedy, where a friendly and respectful environment should be prioritized. It is one thing to encourage humor; it is quite another to allow moderators to use their position to ridicule members.

3. Personal Bias and Targeting of Specific Users: There appears to be a trend of targeting certain users who express opinions or styles of humor that may differ from the moderators’ preferences. I, along with other members, have experienced unwarranted scrutiny, with our posts frequently flagged or removed for reasons that remain unclear or poorly explained. This has led to a stifling atmosphere where users feel they must constantly self-censor for fear of triggering a moderator’s personal bias.

4. Lack of Transparency in Decision-Making: When users reach out to moderators for clarification on why their content was removed or flagged, responses are often dismissive or nonexistent. This lack of transparency fosters confusion and frustration, as it is difficult to understand what is considered acceptable when the criteria seem to change based on who is enforcing them. Additionally, attempts to question or appeal a moderator’s decision are often met with hostility or further punishment, discouraging members from seeking clarity.

5. Fostering a Culture of Intimidation: By allowing certain moderators to engage in bullying tactics, the forum inadvertently fosters a culture of intimidation. Members are becoming increasingly reluctant to share their thoughts or contribute for fear of attracting negative attention from moderators. This has a chilling effect on the diversity and vibrancy of the community, as it discourages members from expressing themselves authentically.

6. Ignoring Community Feedback: I know for a fact that multiple members have raised these concerns in the past, only to be dismissed or even punished for speaking out. This disregard for community feedback is particularly disheartening, as it suggests that the forum’s leadership values the authority of moderators over the voices of its members. A successful forum thrives on mutual respect and open communication, yet current practices seem to prioritize control over community-building.

In conclusion, I urge you to seriously consider the grievances I have outlined. Moderators play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and welcoming environment, and it is concerning to see some use this role in ways that are counterproductive, if not outright harmful. I respectfully request that you:

Conduct a review of moderator practices, focusing on instances of bullying, bias, and unfair enforcement.

Implement clear guidelines on respectful communication that apply to moderators as well as members.

Establish a transparent process for appeals and clarifications, so users have a fair opportunity to understand and address any issues.

Actively seek and consider community feedback, ensuring that members feel heard and valued.

Thank you for taking the time to address these concerns. I am hopeful that OnA Forums can once again become a space where humor and open discussion can thrive without fear or favoritism.

Sincerely,
Mustard
All of the above stated things are reasons why the mods here rule

Honestly, fuck trying to be funny or feeling bad at this point about any of this. Like the dozens of Boq threads were any better? Assuming people's identities to fuck with them is the height of creepy pedo behavior and for doing it this badly, this little weasel deserves to be bullied for every second of his time here. It's a good thing this shit got pointed out and if you're siding with Team Kidfuck, think yourselves lucky we kept it to two threads, neither of which were started by HR.

y'know, it just occured to us that asking for this to be pinned was a mistake. If we can just keep it towards the top of page 1 it's optimally humiliating because it's not being kept there by anything other than pure mockery of him.

The "Christmas Apology" is the only thing we never saved where he said "You're funny, I'm not" and then edited the message to remove the "I'm not" part. We wished him a happy christmas and told him if he chilled out and left people alone we'd lay off him. We did for a while.
