fingerstyle is one of the most rewarding ways to play and worth taking the time to get comfortable with. start with travis picking, it's simple and won't take long for finger picking patterns to become second natureI have feminine small hands, I love it for that reason, you can play chords and it just feels weightless. I can’t really play intricate riffs or finger style / fancy strumming patterns.
I just play chords.

Jazzmasters are pretty sweet.I just wanna play driving chords like nirvana, or jangly chords like smiths / joy division. What’s best, mustang or jazz master? I know I want one of these guitars but I’m not sure which. I don’t really know what they all cost anymore, I’m out the loop big time.
I traded it for a cyclone which was way more pfg.
Plus the "real" genuine Fender company is G<hey're so good now that it's at the point where there isn't much reason in buying the lower-end Fenders.
I bought some G&L Tribute Legacy strat as a dickaround guitar and it's kind of mindblowingly amazing. It's possibly the best funk guitar. I just hate the finish. It's a transparent blue burst, which I think is maybe the gayest finish of all time. I have an 83 US Strat that I love and the low end G&L actually plays and sounds betterPlus the "real" genuine Fender company is G&L
Those G&L tributes are great because even though they're made overseas, the electronics are the same pickups as in the made in the USA lineI bought some G&L Tribute Legacy strat as a dickaround guitar and it's kind of mindblowingly amazing. You know what was an incredible strat that I really regret selling? I had a Japanese Fender Daisy. It was fucking amazing and I liked it because it wasn't a guitar you'd expect me to play.I bought some G&L Tribute Legacy strat as a dickaround guitar and it's kind of mindblowingly amazing. The new one looks like some Sears piece of shit from the 60s. I fucking hate Bigsbys by the way. Any time I see anyone playing a Les Paul or am SG with a Bigsby or a trapeze tailpiece I immediately think less of them. Enjoy your guitar constantly being knocked out of tune without even touching the bar. Not the case with trapezes but I think they look like shit.I'll never forgive fender for leaking that they had started to make the maverick body shape again only to roll out a fucking ugly MULATTO of a guitar and asking for $2500 when it's made in Mexico.

YUCK
I have a cream 86 Jap Strat that someone routed out for a bridge humbucker at some point. I've got a really nice set of dimarzios in that as well. I think that was their whole intention. I don't need to look like I'm in "The Vines", Fender. The new one looks like some Sears piece of shit from the 60s.
Every Jap Fender I've ever played was really nice. I think they're straight up better than the USA ones.I have a cream 86 Jap Strat that someone routed out for a bridge humbucker at some point. I've got a really nice set of dimarzios in that as well. It's one of the nicest Strats I've ever played.
Also more pics of the Cyclone cuz I don't get to fag out about my shit that much:

Fender thought so, too. There was a gap in US production in the early 80s while they figured out what the Japanese factory was doing to put out such a better product. Early 80s USA Fenders are real dogs. Even 70s Fenders are hit or miss, although they're really going to in price lately, which is absurd.Every Jap Fender I've ever played was really nice. What a shocker, Japs set up electronics with high precision and dedication to their craftEvery Jap Fender I've ever played was really nice. I think they're straight up better than the USA ones.
Boomers are the only thing that's kept Gibson's head above water for ages now. My wifes uncle spent over 7 grand in the last few years on two fucking gibsons and actually tried to justify them as an investment. He doesn't even really play a great deal, he just got cancer and pissed away a bunch of money on things he wanted because he doesn't have kids. Now he's probably not long for this earth so I'll end up with two dumb boomer guitars I'll have to try and sell at a loss so we can access the surviving 75% of the part of my wife and daughters inheritance that he wants us to hang up on a wall and collect dust. The big names make a killing off boomers.
I fucking love the cyclone. Super underrated guitar. I was slightly bummed when squier made theirs because I'm a faggot like that and was hoping it would stay a niche, rare little dark horse like a supersonic. At one point it almost tripled in value, but it's come way down again since the reissue.View attachment 207431
I had a 98 Cyclone floating around my collection and a few years ago decided to gut it and rebuild it from the ground up. I swapped all the chrome for gold including a Wilkinson bridge and D'Addario locking tuners. I cut a new pickguard for it to get rid of the selector switch and neck pickup that I never used and dropped a DiMarzio Steve Lukather Transitions humbuckers in it. I wired it with a single volume (cuz fuck tone knobs) and put in a series/parallel switch for the humbucker, which ended up sounding like garbage in parallel anyway. It's also got a Hipshot tremsetter so when you let go of the whammy bar, it always returns to the same position and stays in tune. This mother fucker shreds.
Oh yeah, the pickup pole pieces are gold, too, which just looks fantastic
It's a cool guitar, for sure. Looks like a Mustang but has the typical Strat 1-3/4" body thickness instead of the Mustang 1-1/2". Has the 6 screw bridge instead of the dicey Mustang bridge, and the scale length of a Les Paul. I got it for a steal way back in 2001 and sat on it for years.I fucking love the cyclone. Just having the one bucker is a real classy mod. I always thought it was a kinda punky guitar so it gives it a sort of les paul Jr vibe.
